Grahams Professional Approach

Working as a psychologist I must tune in to the people I seek to help.
As part of the “tuning in” process it is important to gain an understanding of what the person is trying to achieve. I need to understand their attributes, skills, knowledge and beliefs.
Understanding what they have tried to this point is also crucial. By the time people are either referred to me or they find me independently they have often been trying the same things over and over again until they reach a point at which they can proceed no further and they realize they need professional help. Their algorithm for moving forward is a non effective life equation in which there is no solution. Trying to solve a personal issue or problem repeatedly using the same algorithm and each time expecting a different outcome can sometimes be a sign of a mental disorder. They may finally start to consider other approaches outside their personal belief boundaries. Clinical Hypnosis incorporated in psychological therapy such as cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is often outside of the persons belief boundaries happily this is changing in today's world".
